Rejuvenation and the new shape of healthcare

What was discussed
The session discussed how to view biological change and mental health when connecting rejuvenation research to the value of health and daily life. Research on removing senescent cells and research on estimating biological age from gene methylation were introduced. The XPRIZE mechanism, which competes on rejuvenation of muscle, cognitive, and immune functions, was also taken up. Using Shiseido's diagnostic service that measures skin, body, and mind as an example, the session described a design that makes data-based proposals without pushing cosmetics, and the unexpectedly large number of users in their twenties.
About this session
The word rejuvenation was long confined to science fiction. Where we stand in the twenty-first century is the point at which it is coming into flower as technology. Rejuvenation dissolves the boundary between healthcare and beauty, and creates a new industrial field. How do we ask after an industry in a field where the boundary dissolves? This session also deepens the question of the structural change in industry that appears once new technology is realised.
